shares her favourite Ramadan memories and rituals, during her visit to Tryano.

Tryano: What do you love about Ramadan?

Mthayel: Who doesn't love Ramadan? The holy month gives us the opportunity to spend more time with the people we love, to give back, do the things we sometimes tend to take for granted. What I love most about Ramadan are the gatherings. I open my Majlis three to four times a week during the holy month welcoming friends, family and loved ones. We gather around for Suhoor, eat together, share stories, play games and watch some Ramadan TV series.

Tryano: As someone who is fashion forward like yourself, how would you describe the trends during Ramadan?

Mthayel: Fashion is an interesting part to witness during this month. Ladies get really creative with their fashion style and a new trend is born every year.

I am eager to see what will be the trend this Ramadan. One particular ritual that will never go old in my opinion is al doukhoun. Fragrance is a very essential element in our culture and personally I am constantly seeking to discover new scents.

Tryano: What is a tradition you look forward to every Ramadan?

Mthayel: Every year I make it a point to regularly go to an elderly home to spend time there. I enjoy listening to people's stories, learning from their wisdom and comforting them whenever I can. This is a life changing experience for me and I look forward to it every year. This Ramadan, I decided to volunteer at an orphanage, to get to know the children who live there, hear their thoughts and dreams, and help put a smile on their faces.

Tryano: What is your favorite Ramadan memory?

Mthayel: My favorite Ramadan memory is Shillegh (fireworks). I think that every Emirati can relate to this.
